Fortress solitaire rules (1 deck of cards)<< Fort | Fortune's Favor >>

Goal: Move out the aces when you can and build them up to king in the same suit.

Build the 10 piles of the layout up or down in the same suit. Empty piles can be filled with any card.

You can only move one card at a time. Each empty pile doubles the number of cards you can move, since multiple moves would allow it.

Variations: Chessboard, The Fort

This game is quite a bit like Streets and Alleys (Beleaguered Castle). It deals out 10 piles rather than 8, and allows building both up and down. Building however must match suit.

Building upward in the layout can be dangerous, because you bury lower cards with higher cards, and they will need to be released before they can move to the ace piles. You can use an empty pile and move one card at a time to reverse the order.
