Beleaguered Castle solitaire rules (1 deck of cards)<< Batsford | Betsy Ross >>
Goal: All 4 aces are set out. Build them up to king in the same suit.
Build the 8 piles of the layout down in any suit. Empty piles can be filled with any card.
You can only move one card at a time. Each empty pile doubles the number of cards you can move, since multiple moves would allow it.
Also known as: Laying Siege, Sham Battle
Variations: Citadel, Exiled Kings, Penelope's Web, Siegecraft, Streets and Alleys
A win greatly depends on being able to create empty spaces to maneuvere cards. Siegecraft adds a cell to move out a single card. Citadel plays cards to the ace piles during the deal. Penelope's Web is nearly impossible to win.
