Gloucestershire solitaire rules (2 decks of cards)<< Glencoe | Golf >>
Goal: Move out the aces when you can and build them up to king in the same suit, then play the other ace and repeat another cycle.
52 cards are set aside face up into 2 piles of 26 cards each, with every individual card available for play.
Build the 8 piles of the layout down in alternating suit color. You can move a group of cards that are in sequence. Kings play onto aces. Empty piles can be filled with anything.
This is much like a 2-deck variation of Northwest Territory, with the same style 'reserve' of cards from Flower Garden, but far more cards in it.
Building in the layout wraps from ace to king, so high cards can bury low cards and block them from reaching the foundations. You will need to free them.
Michael Johnstone doesn't set out the undealt cards all at once. He uses the traditional method of turning over cards one by one to a waste pile, with unlimited redeals. Someone, somewhere made this more like Flower Garden, as seen in the earliest computer apps.
