Zodiac solitaire rules (2 decks of cards)<< Yukon | Above and Below >>
Goal: Move out an ace of each suit when you can and build them up to king in the same suit. Move out a king of each suit when you can and build them down to ace in the same suit.
You can not move out any aces or kings and begin building on them until all cards in the deck have been depleted.
8 cards are dealt in a line, representing the equator.
24 cards are dealt in a circle, representing the zodiac around the equator (2 cards for each astrological sign). Build these cards up or down in the same suit, but only from the equator or the deck, not from other piles in the zodiac.
Turn over 1 card at a time from the deck, playing the top card to the cards in the zodiac, or to spaces in the equator. Redeal as often as you wish, returning the waste pile back to the deck.
Also known as: Girdle
It will require careful planning to play out all cards so that they can all reach the foundation piles once the deck has been depleted. You can redeal as often as you wish, so leave cards in the waste when you can't find a good spot for them. You can also leave spaces in the equator, and wait to fill them with cards you may find useful soon.
Helen L. Coops allows the deck to build onto cards in the equator, likely a misunderstanding on her part.
