Wood solitaire rules (2 decks of cards)<< Windmill (Relaxed) | Yorktown >>

Goal: One card is dealt to determine the starting rank for the 'foundation' piles. Move out the other 7 cards of the same rank when you can, and build them up to piles of 13 cards in alternating suit color. Aces play onto kings.

10 cards are set aside as the 'reserve', with the top card available for play only to the foundation piles.

Build the 8 piles of the layout down in alternating suit color. Kings play onto aces. Only the top card of a pile may be moved. Empty piles are filled from the deck.

Turn over one card at a time from the deck, playing the top card to other piles when you can.

Variation of: Queen of Italy

Difference: A dealt card determines the starting rank of the foundations rather than letting the player choose from 4 cards. The reserve is dealt 10 cards rather than 11. There are 8 piles in the layout rather than 9.

This variation is the same as Blondes and Brunettes, but with 8 piles in the layout rather than 9 (David Parlett has it in reverse).
