Light and Shade solitaire rules (2 decks of cards)<< Leapfrog | Limited >>
Goal: All 8 aces are set out. Build them up to king in alternating suit color.
4 cells are each dealt a card. These cards can only be played into the layout, never directly onto the aces. Empty cells are filled from the deck.
Build the 4 piles of the layout down in alternating suit color. Any number of cards from the top of a pile may be moved. Empty piles can only be filled by a card from the cells.
Turn over one card at a time from the deck, playing the top card to other piles when you can.
Also known as: Light and Shadow
Lady Cadogan nor George Hapgood allow the waste pile to play to the aces. Thankfully other descriptions do.
Originally you could only move top cards in the layout. Alphonse Moyse allows "one or all cards". Goodsol allows any number of cards (as does BVS), the rule used here.
