Emperor solitaire rules (2 decks of cards)<< Eliminator | Emperor+ >>

Goal: Move out the aces when you can and build them up to king in the same suit.

Build the 10 piles of the layout down in alternating suit color. Empty piles can be filled with any card.

You can only move one card at a time, or an entire pile of face-up cards. You can not move only part of a pile. Each empty pile doubles the number of cards you can move, since multiple moves would allow it.

Turn over one card at a time from the deck, playing the top card to other piles when you can.

Variation of: Forty Thieves

Difference: The first 3 cards of each pile are dealt face down. The layout is built by alternating suit color rather than matching suits. Entire piles of face-up cards can be moved.

Deauville, Emperor, and Rank and File are almost identical. Deauville only allows top cards to move. Emperor also allows entire piles. Rank and File allows any sequence. David Parlett, GoodSol, and King Sol play Emperor the same way as Deauville. Tom King, SolSuite, and BVS play it the same way as Rank and File.

Miss Whitmore Jones doesn't allow entire piles to be moved. A limited redeal is given instead.

This variation uses the original rules: Emperor+

At least 8 different, but similar descriptions can be found, including the various interpretations of the somewhat-confusing original rules.
