Czarina solitaire rules (1 deck of cards)<< Crossword (Easy) | Deauville >>
Goal: One card is dealt to determine the starting rank for the 'foundation' piles. Move out the other 3 when you can, and build them up to piles of 13 cards each in the same suit. Aces play onto kings.
A layout of 5 cards is dealt in the form of a cross. Build the piles down in any suit. Kings play onto aces. You can only move one card at a time. Empty piles are filled from the deck.
Turn over one card at a time from the deck, playing the top card to other piles when you can.
A limited redeal is allowed, turning up only 2 cards. Continue to turn up another card only when one of the 2 cards is played.
Variation of: Four Seasons
Difference: Empty piles are filled automatically from the deck. A limited redeal is allowed. One card is turned to the waste, and another flipped up on the deck. Either card must be played to turn up another.
Modern descriptions have neglected the redeal. Without it, the game is just Four Seasons without control of empty spaces. The redeal makes only 2 cards available at a time, but it often turns a lost game into a win.
