Big Ben (Relaxed) solitaire rules (2 decks of cards)<< Big Ben | Big Forty >>

This variation allows play to the outer piles even when they contain less than 3 cards.

Goal: Build the 12 inner 'clock' piles up in the same suit. Aces play onto kings. A pile ends when it reaches the value for its position on the clock.

Build the 12 outer piles down in the same suit. Kings play onto aces. Empty piles can not be filled.

You can only move one card at a time. Any time you wish, draw cards from the deck to top up all piles to a minimum of 3 cards.

If all outer piles have at least 3 cards, turn over one card at a time from the deck, playing the top card to other piles when you can.

Variation of: Big Ben

Difference: Cards are allowed to play to the outer piles even when they contain less than 3 cards.

Rules state that vacancies can only be filled from the deck. What's not always clear is the exact definition of a vacancy.

Some consider any pile with less than 3 cards to contain vacancies (or gaps), in which case you can not play to these piles until they are topped up from the deck.

Some consider that a vacancy is a completely empty pile, in which case you can can continue to play to any pile with at least one card in it. This is the rule used for this variation.
