This has roots as far back as "La Forteresse" by Lady Cadogan in 1870, "Fort" in the Cavendish collection in 1890, and "Beleaguered Castle" in the American collection by William Dick.

One deck of cards
Object: Play all cards to the foundation.

Tableau: 8 piles.
Rank is built down. Cards can be any suit.
If a pile is empty, you can play any card.
You can pick up and play the top card of a pile.
You can move one card, plus another card for every empty cell.

Foundation: 4 piles.
Each pile is dealt a base card.
Rank is built up. Cards must match the same suit.
